Tape Test
One-site method (AD 2023-11) — waist at navel, nearest 0.5″
Measure horizontally at the navel — relaxed abdomen, normal exhale, tape snug but not compressing
Screening table: AR 600-9, Appendix B, Table B-1. Passing means no tape required. Commanders may still direct a tape test if a Soldier does not present a Soldierly appearance.
Tape test: One-site abdomen method per AD 2023-11. Body fat compared to AR 600-9 Table B-2 max. Soldiers scoring 465+ on the AFT with 80+ per event are exempt per AD 2025-17.
